SGA’s Commitment to “Opening Blind Eyes” (OBE)

In order to help fulfill SGA’s commitment to fostering knowledge and awareness on campus, Carol Davey recently brought to the EC and Senate an idea for a new committee called Opening a Blind Eye (OBE). OBE will be a support system for clubs across campus that are increasing global awareness by campaigning for a particular issue. The committee will have access to SGA funds in order to carry out programming; additionally, this new committee will serve as a liaison between SGA and organizations on campus. For instance, in December, OBE will team up with Santana Libscomb and the Black Student Union to raise awareness about Darfur.

Why not start by opening people's eyes about the impending loss of Rustic Cottage. RC is not just wood. It is a part of our built-environment that teaches, inspires, and embodies.

It will be torn down or given away by May 1 unless students get involved.

Wake people!
